About
Thanks for showing an interest in who I am! My name is Jacob Kurtz and I have been a resident of California for the past 40 years or so. In that period of time I’ve seen many changes take place in this wonderful state (and in this great country for that matter) that have turned what was once an idyllic place to live and raise a family, into a liberal, over regulated, out of control, corrupt and incorrigible political landscape that is over taxing us, stifling our freedoms and undermining our will….the will of the people!
I own a couple of small businesses, a real estate brokerage and an internet marketing company… and I am an active musician with a particular interest in jazz and blues. My instrument of choice is the guitar, although I also play a little piano. I play on a fairly regular basis with and without ensemble and I have recently been working on a CD of original works. I have been active musically in the Christian church off and on and currently work with and support a Jewish outreach ministry, Christians United For Israel, along with one of my lifelong friends.
I played music in bands of all types all through Junior High and High School and my first real “job” when I was 16 years old was teaching guitar at a local music store…The Music Box, along with a few of my other aspiring musician friends. That same group of friends formed a 9 piece blues fusion band of sorts in the Sacramento area in 1970 and we played, lived and traveled together for the better part of 4 years. The band was “Waterfall”, and to this day many local people remember us and our music, as well as the music scene that existed in the Sacramento area during that time period.
When “Waterfall” called it quits, I continued to make a living as a professional musician and spent several more years on the road playing throughout North America and Canada. I also bought my first home! I played in several different ensembles and developed a well rounded musical education, especially in the jazz arena. The music business was good to me both from a self fulfillment standpoint and from a monetary standpoint. But, all things have a season… and towards the end of the 70′s, I started a family, began a sales career and launched my educational journey into real estate…a journey which has taken many twists and turns over the years, but has been life changing for myself and my family.
Speaking of family, I have a wonderful wife, who is also my best friend, three beautiful daughters and several grand-children, all of whom I love very much. I am concerned about the world they are inheriting and the path that society is taking as a whole. In case you haven’t figured it out by now, I am fairly conservative in my political and social leanings, but independent minded with respect to party affiliation. I just want people to be responsible for their own actions or lack thereof, and I don’t want government taxing wantonly, spending feverishly and taking from me to give to someone else who feels they are entitled for some reason or another. I want to decide how best to spend the money I earn and I want to decide who might be deserving of voluntary financial assistance, better known as charity!
I decided to start this blog as a hub from which to connect all of the different aspects and viewpoints of my life, business and passions…..and in the process, hopefully, engage and learn from a few new and old friends along the way. I am not necessarily the most gifted writer nor am I an extreme political activist. However, I do feel the need to make my voice heard in this political climate and will be doing so from time to time as part of the content of my real estate blog!
Respectfully,
Jake
